LSU to hire former USF DL Coach Earl Lane

LSU plans on announcing new DL Coach Earl Lane today in a press conference. Lane spent 9 seasons with the Bulls before departing for Wisconsin this past Sunday. Earl had accepted the job at Wisconsin Sunday, but when LSU came along decided to change his mind.

Earl on the decision to leave Wisconsin for LSU:
"It was a very tough decision," Lane said. "I changed my mind. I talked to some coaches I know and to some people I trust, and they told me that LSU was the better place for me. And like I said both offers came at about the same time. I appreciate everything about Wisconsin, but I'm really excited about being at LSU."

LSU looks to shake-off Bama loss, hosts Arkansas

LSU Forward Glen Davis

On Saturday, LSU lost their first SEC game of the season in Tuscaloosa. The Tigers, who host Arkansas tonight at 7 CST, look to improve to 8-1 in the SEC. LSU beat Arkansas 63-58 earlier this year.

John Brady on the importance of this game, "This is a really important game for us and a really important game for them," said LSU Coach John Brady. "Arkansas is as good as anyone in the league. They have experience with good players. I don't think you can judge a team on how good or bad they are by a few possessions. They are playing consistently well. They are close to being a good basketball team and things going their way. Hopefully it won't start to turn their way until after Wednesday night."

Tyrus Thomas and Baby Shaq (Glen Davis)should have huge games. Mix in a few three's from D-Mitch, and LSU should pull away with the win.

The game will be televised on Jefferson Pilot Sports.

LSU-70
Arkansas-62

2006 Recruiting Class

Well, it's finally over. LSU completed their top 10 recruiting class when 5-star RB Keiland Williams faxed in his papers February 3. What caused Williams to second guess himself on signing day after already committing to LSU just a few weeks earlier, nobody knows.

Friday, Keiland made his decision, "LSU is a great program and I like the coaches," said Williams. "This was a family decision and I prayed about it last night and felt that LSU was the best place for me. It's home."

Some other notable soon to be LSU Tigers are the following:

5-Star DB Jai Eugene.
Jai, who originally committed to Michigan on January 7, decided to stay home and be a LSU Tiger. Jai Eugene on staying home, "My little boy...I just started realizing what is important to me," Eugene said. "My family and my little boy and the distance is a big factor.

"I love my little boy and I hate to be far away from him because I know I am a big influence on him."

5-Star DT Al Woods

4-Star WR Chris Mitchell

4-Star WR Jared Mitchell

4-Star WR Ricky Dickson

4-Star TE Richard Dickson

4-Star RB Richard Murphy

4-Star RB Charles Scott

4-Star DT Charles Deas

4-Star DB Shomari Clemons

LSU finished ranked number 7 in recruiting for 2006. Look for Miles to continue bringing in these top recruiting classes year after year.
